| With
the experienced accrued with over 200 Italian companies of differing
sizes and areas of operation, today Sarce is one of the best
qualified partners for designing and developing Operational Monitoring
systems.
The Sarce team dedicated to the field of Monitoring is made up
of various professional individuals capable of accompanying the
client through all the phases of the project, offering for each
one the professional advice and experience appropriate to the work
to be carried out.
An understanding of the quantitative and qualitative dynamics of
the events involved in business make it possible to take rapid
and effective decisions, and are today a fundamental resource for
overcoming competitive pressure and improving the position in the
market.
The correct identification of information needs and the subsequent
definition of the logical model for handling the necessary data
is a critical moment in the project, which requires that the working
group bring into play resources with the greatest experience and
ability.
Thanks to the wealth of knowledge acquired in now almost twenty
years of consultancy, we can offer Management the necessary assistance
both in the design of information tools of a strategic nature,
and in the definition of reports for the period by period monitoring
of the company’s progress.
The development of a monitoring system requires a careful analysis
of the basic data which must be gathered and processed, with the
aim of verifying the previously stipulated requirements of accuracy,
completeness and timeliness. In fact from this analysis must come
either the feasibility of the design of the model, with a plan
of any actions needed to optimise the management processes, or
its non-feasibility, and hence a revision of the objectives and/or
the anticipated development times.
Our approach pays the greatest attention to this aspect, which
has a major bearing on timescales, costs, and, in the final analysis,
on the success of the entire project. For this reason the skills
of our consultants are not limited to just the matter of operational
control, but extend also to company processes and the traditional
computing structures on which they are based. But it is above all
the experience, in particular that developed in the most critical
of situations, that we offer to our clients as a valuable first
support for the feasibility analysis, with its resultant estimates
of timescales and costs, and then for the definition and execution
of activities for reviewing the processes.
Our approach to the development of the model involves three principal
steps:
1-
Gathering of the basic data, where they originate, and at the greatest
level
of detail consistent with the informational requirements
of the model.
2-
Classification of the data, collected into a data warehouse designed
specifically
to enable production of the management control
analyses, to be made available to all the users concerned.
3-
Development of an enquiry and reporting system which, extracting
the data from
the data warehouse for monitoring, processes them
and presents them in accordance with the informational requirements
of each user of the system.
The tools which we offer consist of
standard software, which makes it possible for clients to be able
to develop
the entire
model
or a part of it by themselves.
Sarce makes available Product Specialists which are able in this
phase to:
Hand-hold the client through the activities of parameterisation
of the software, on the basis of the application to be created
Develop the application directly, where expressly requested by
the client
Follow the client through the phases of signing off and live running
of the developed system
Instruct personnel in the use and maintenance of the system.
To handle an Operational Monitoring project requires tools designed
specifically for the purpose, which make available functions capable
of speeding up and automating the different development, maintenance
and implementation activities.
In particular, the software tools must guarantee:
1. The complete automation of the function of gathering the basic
data through integration with feeder sub-systems.
2. The presence of interactive monitoring functions focussed on
ensuring that each data item entered into the system conforms to
the requirements of form and content called for by the model.
3. The availability of tools for the free presentation of information,
both in a graphical form and in the form of classical company reports.
Sarce uses CDR as the solution for the construction of a data warehouse
and Business Intelligence tools such as Business Objects and Board
for the role of representation of information. Please see the relevant
section of the site for further information about these tools.
Documentation of the model and the applications
Full documentation of the logic and the contents of the model, as well as of
the functions for processing and production of the information, is an asset of
at least equal value to that of the product itself and the applications developed,
guaranteeing the continuity of the system over the years without the need to
rely on any single individual.
Sarce’s consultants offer a service to develop the documentation to the
level of detail and completeness requested by the client, both during the analysis
and development phases, and following sign-off of the application.
The amount of the investment, the timescales and the impact on the organisation
which characterise the more complex projects call for a structured approach,
with activities of coordination of the various resources and verification of
the results and the progress.
Sarce offers the services of a Project Manager with skills not limited just to
project management techniques, but, in view of the importance of direct dialogue
between the different participants in the project, extending also to matters
of operational monitoring, the tools being used and their integration into the
realms of management processes. |
