Having used ACG (Applicazioni Contabili Gestionali) from IBM (Management
Accounting Applications) since it first came onto the market,
Sarce has now accrued significant experience in the design
of management information systems created for a large number
of companies operating in the most diverse of market sectors.
In the set-up phase of these projects, Sarce has always carried
out the following activities, with considerable success:
Design
Among our staff are professionals who perform the role of Project Leader . The
responsibility of this person is to define the administration/management model
to be computerised which is most suitable for the company, outlining both the
range of ACG modules to be used, and the areas in which action is required to
bring the tools closer to the company's requirements. Our Project Leaders are
responsible for the relationship between Sarce and the individual companies which
entrust us with the task of creating their information system, and they co-ordinate
the work of all Sarce's teams of professionals who are called upon during the
different phases of the project.
Analysis
After the activity of designing the company information system, the analysis
work serves to translate the guidelines and objectives of the project into a
detailed specification to be given to the programmers for them to develop the
customisations and/or specialisations. To carry out this activity we have among
our staff a group of product experts , who also have the task of carrying out
end-user training in the use of the new procedures.
Software development
It is often the case that, when carrying out a computerisation project for a
company with marked peculiarities in terms of the work they carry out or in their
operating structure, it is necessary to work on the software to modify, integrate
or add functionality which it is difficult to find in a standard product. In
these cases, on the advice of the product experts involved in the project, our
analyst programmers carry out the work needed to adapt the functionality of the
ACG software to the needs which came out during the survey phase. In essence,
the work requested of the analyst programmers is divided into two categories:
Customisations. This
type of work tends to ensure that a given standard operating function meets the
specific needs of the company more fully.
Specialisations. In this category come all the work which enriches the structure
of the database and/or the creation of new operating functions conceived to handle
workflows that were not provided for in the base software. The final result of
these activities is a specialised information system fine tuned to the business
and/or the operating structure of the company.
The ACG Add-On solution
In order to offer a valid technical and methodological alternative to the traditional
approach described in the preceding paragraph, Sarce has developed a standard
solution which has the objective of supplementing and enriching the informational
structures and the operating functions typically found in the Web Edition of
ACG. The software created to that end, called ACG Add-On , offers the project
team the possibility of defining and activating a series of functions which are
additional to those of the standard ACG, by simply using a series of parameterisation
tables. The objective is to utilise a sophisticated software product which, starting
with an abstract processing model, makes it possible to configure specialised
information systems while eliminating almost totally the need for in-house programming
in the development of the project. The direct results of this solution are:
Speed of implementation
use of standard software
Immediate savings due to the reduction in the activities of customisation.
Medium/long term savings thanks to the reduced number of customisations to be
modified when updates of ACG are released
Flexibility and the capability of adapting the system as the company's management
needs develop-Speed of implementation.
